Canva has launched their Canva for Work premium feature! That means Canva has made it even more easy to create beautiful designs with less effort. Many people question if Canva for Work is good for them as an entrepreneur or solopreneur. This is where I give the details of my experience using Canva for Work. I think you’ll be immensely satisfied with the results because I am!
Canva for Work provides 4 functionalities that the regular account does not have: the branding kit, layout creator, magic resize, and photo folders. Each of these exciting features are an incredible resource and you’ll see if Canva for Work is really for the entrepreneur.
Let’s review the 4 Canva for Work functionalities:
First thing you’ll want to do is create your branding kit, which gives you a chance to include your brand style into your account. All of your colors, fonts, and logos will “live” here.
If you don’t have a brand style kit for your business, I highly recommend Julie Harris Design’s free resources. She has excellent resources and she provides a Brand Style Guide.
You’ll see in a minute why this should be your first step.
Once you have your branding kit all set, you’ll notice the color of your screen will match your branding color to get your brand “feel”. The first tab will be Templates and there will be your ready-to-go templates with your brand color.
It provides me with: an Instagram, Facebook post, Twitter post, Marketing Team (for presentations), and Pinterest layouts. These are already sized and ready to go with your brand color.
Here’s an example of how I used the template given, changed my text and my photo. This is one of the awesome features. I’d like to add my logo, so I go into the Uploads tab and take a look at the Logos folder already created from the branding kit.

You’ll notice another area to create a new folder for additional images. This is a HUGE feature that people have been asking for and they’ve provided. After using Canva for a while, all your images get jumbled up in one spot. Now you can organize all your images into folders. Awesome, right?!
I’ve added my own logo and website URL and here’s my image.
All set! Pretty easy!
This is where the magic comes in! I’m still on my Twitter post image and there is a link to File on the top left. When clicked, this is the dropdown menu you’ll find.
You can click on Magic Resize and you’ll get these options.
Remember my image is a Twitter post and I want to change it to a Facebook post and Pinterest graphic. Hit Abracadabra – Resize!
Boom! It takes a moment and I have 2 new windows for each format. Take a look:
Now I just need to move the photo a bit and move things around. It doesn’t take long but a couple of clicks. This is so much easier than creating the Twitter post then getting out of the image to go into a Facebook post then uploading the original downloaded image to add into it. Then doing it all over again for the Pinterest graphic. That saved a ton of time! I guess that’s why they call it magic. I’m in love with this feature!
You’ve already had a peek at the photo folders when I went through the templates. Let’s take it a step further.
As you go into Upload you’ll notice a New Folder option, where you can rename it to organize your images. For example, you may have photos for a particular client and you can name the folder with your client’s name.
With each folder, you are able to share it with anyone you’d like or designate team members for your team and they’ll have access. However you can keep your images private. You can simply check what option is best per folder.
If you already have a number of images uploaded (I have an enormous amount!) then you can name a new folder to the type of images you have. Take a look at the example below:
I have so many uploaded images that it will take some time for me to organize them.
When you do have your folders set up then this is the easiest way of organizing the photos. You can go to existing uploaded photos and click on the little “i” to either Trash it or move to any of your folders. Check it out!
Is that not the coolest thing you’ve seen in organizing images?! I think it’s incredible especially since this was a top requested feature by Canva users.
