Writing a book was never on my mind, EVER in life. Being an author just seemed impossible for me. When I started my business I learned about self-publishing and I was intrigued. Seriously anyone can be an author, even me!

I wondered what kind of book I could write and I realized that I had many blog posts about the same subject, Canva. I found myself a bit obsessed with Canva when I found it in the beginning of 2014 searching for do it yourself (DIY) graphic design. I really needed to learn how to create my own graphics. As I started my business journey, one thing became quite clear – visual marketing is important for a business. I searched for an inexpensive way to get started. Of course I looked into Adobe Photoshop and InDesign however it would take too long to find out how to work the programs. Then I stumbled onto Canva. The userinterface was fun and seemed easy enough.

At the time Canva had only about 5 actual designs to work with and to me it was amazing. They had a design for social media and I started there. I took their tutorials they sent via email and it was fun. When I got into my Canva account I felt a bit of creativeness streaming out of me. As much as I used to think, “I can never be that creative.” or “I don’t have a creative bone in my body.”, many people in my family are artists in music and art. I never felt creative in my life.

Canva almost had a liberating feeling for me every time I was in there to create. It was marvelous! I felt like I can do anything and that my business can do well.

That’s when, “How To Use Canva Like A Pro For Business” was born.

I quickly took the blog posts that I had written about Canva and pulled them together. I must say the first edition of the book wasn’t that great but it had the basics for others to learn about Canva and how it could help them in business. Soon Canva updated its features and there was so much more that they provided especially with Canva for Work (Canva’s premium feature). It was time for me to update my book explaining all the awesome features Canva had added.

This time, for the 2nd version, I wanted to be sure to include every detail of how Canva could help an entrepreneur succeed in their business using Canva as a visual marketing tool. I updated the book with the Canva for Work details and what’s best about it for solopreneurs or entrepreneurs with teams. It’s not a training manual where I give step by step directions but more of a guide of how Canva can be best used as a business owner. I do include links to different articles or tutorials of importance.

    Hi Lillian

We have made an online purchase of your book “How to Use Canva Like a Pro”.

As recent converts to Canva I was looking for a book that would assist us in getting the best out of what we see is a great asset. As a small business we saw the benefits of using Canva, but I must admit to be very disapointed with your book.

Its published in black and white and the pictures are not very clear, even the content of the book was not quite what we were expecting, and as a consequence we feel a bit let down.

I’m quite sure that this was not your intention when writing and publishing your book, but we are just trying to give you honest and constructive feedback. from a

As a great believer in books, we had reasonable expectations, and feel let down after paying for a book that had 35 pages, and not that much useful information.

      Hi Steve,

I would like complete transparency with my blog audience so with your comment I was concerned that this was a spam comment, I then took it off the blog and emailed you directly. As you know we’ve been corresponding via email and you are not a spammer however indeed a genuine purchaser.

I’m glad I was able to find out why you felt let down with the book. Apparently when I placed it on CreateSpace for a paperback option, it then gets distributed to other markets. In your email you indicated you purchased it from Book Depository and it did not provide the book description as Amazon does for some reason. In my Amazon description, I do indicate that this book is not meant to be a training manual or step-by-step guide. I do apologize that you were mislead. I have taken it off CreateSpace because I did want it to be in color however I really need to think about how this may affect others who may come across it like you have. I think I will stick with the Kindle version for now.

I do want readers of my Canva book to be completely satisfied. I’m glad you were happy with the color PDF version I sent you. I really want to bring awareness to entrepreneurs about Canva and what it brings to the table for visual marketing a business. I am quite passionate about it and I’m glad you’re a Canva lover as well

Thanks so much for the feedback as it really has been a learning experience!

      Take care,

    Hi Lillian

    Kia Ora from New Zealand

Thank you for all your emails. It was fun communicating with you over such a long distance. I think we have both realised that the Book Depository had left out some crucial and important narrative regarding your book “How to use Canva like a Pro, for business”, and how it was marketed.

Once we found out, and understood the concept of your book my initial dissapointment with your book, has now been replaced by just how good it is. Especially when that is supplemented by all your Canva experience, courses and blog information, it all fits together really well 🙂

So please accept my apologies, and we are looking forward to doing your course and understanding and implementing all your knowledge around Canva. We think you are a passionate advocate for Canva, and it shows!

    Thank you once again

Congratulations on your updated book. I just started following you after seeing a couple of your useful videos. I use Canva at least three times a week for various blog related images and protects. I really should be subscribing to their service because I use it so much, and rarely use Photoshop any more. Glad I found you.
